Ian  

Ian Parnell MRM, R.P. Bio, Co-founder / Environmental Writer
Ian is an experienced environmental professional. He holds B.Sc. (Ecology) and Master of Resource Management degrees supplemented by 18 years of professional experience in natural resource management.

 

Ian provides the necessary science expertise and guidance for the research, writing and analysis stages of content development. He also writes extensively about science and sustainability. See his blog “What’s Your Ecotype?” for examples.
     
Carol  

Carol Parnell, Co-founder / Producer
Carol is an award-winning writer, producer and digital media consultant with more than twenty years experience working in the creative content industry. Her rich and diverse background includes creative concept development, script writing, business development and analysis, project management, communications, and management consulting.

Prior to co-founding ecotype.ca, Carol managed the Canada New Media Fund for the western region of Telefilm Canada.She also lead a multidisciplinary team of analysts in the due diligence process of managing their project portfolios. As a Telefilm analyst and new media manager Carol also reviewed the business affairs, creative elements, marketing and distribution strategies of television and digital media companies in order to make recommendations for funding. Carol also provided sectoral support and strategic direction, playing a key role in Canada’s new media industry.

Over the years, Carol has served as jury member for the Manitoba Interactive Digital Media Fund, TELUS Innovation Fund, the New Media SLAM, and Canadian New Media Awards adjudicating interactive media and cross-platform projects. She has a special interest in multi-platform content and casual games, and works with game developers, mobile content providers and companies creating convergent projects. Carol is also national Director of Programs for the Wired Woman organization and member of New Media BC.
